Visiting the Sociedad Amigos de los Niños orphanage in Honduras
In attendance at 1/22 meeting: Dr. Schultheis, Jamie L, Ryan P, Joel I, Jeff L, Benson, Merivic

Hi everyone!  We were ecstatic to see so many faces at our meeting this last Wednesday.  Given how difficult it is to coordinate 20+ schedules, having 5 members there was exciting.  Please read on for the minutes of our meeting. Any input and questions are very much welcome and can be directed to our email account.

Joel, our OBD rep, has updated us on the proceedings from Tuesday's OBD meeting:
Our Campus Quad event has been approved.  We hope to see everyone who can come on Wednesday 1/29 from noon-1pm.  There will be free food and music.  If anyone has any input on which food we should order from Foothill's cafeteria (Pacific Dining), please email us.  We have $100 to spend on food, so we'd like to stretch that as far as we can!  We are still waiting on approval for our on-campus coffee/doughnut sale, which we had set for 1/30.  Now we have been told that we can have it as early as the beginning of February, so we will update the blog when we have the new date for that.  Hopefully it will be in the next couple of weeks.  We are also still waiting to hear the verdict on our request for funds from ASFC.

A big shout out to Ryan P for posting our video on Reddit, which we hope will give us some traction and maybe possibly send people to our Empowered site to donate!  We'll post the link here when we can!

Our next flea market will be on March 1 from 6am-6pm.  Please sign for shifts under our "Events and Fundraisers" section on the right hand side of this blog.  We want to thank Dr. Schultheis for helping us store and transport our flea market items.

Thanks to Jeff L for approaching Krispy Kreme Doughnuts about donating doughnuts to our sale.  We may not be able to sell these doughnuts at our upcoming sale, but we have several ideas for possibly selling them at future sales or at local fairs and festivals.  More info on that when we have more firm plans for this.

Thanks to Merivic for contacting Starbucks for our sale.  She found out that Starbucks will donate bags of whole beans, which we could possibly sell (and maybe offer a free doughnut per sale?).  She will get back to us when she gets more information on that.

On a separate note, I have begun a Foothill Medical/Dental Brigade page on ThredUp.com, a website that sells used, brand-name women's clothing.  If you, your friends, and your family have brand-name, used clothing in very good condition, you can request a donation bag and have any proceeds donated to our page on their site.  This will place money in a Foothill GMB PayPal account and then transferred to our empowered page.

We are currently organizing a list of local fairs to host booths at and sell food or do face-painting.  Any and all input on this is welcome! So far we have members looking into the following fairs:
-  St. Joseph's in Mountain View
-  Canada College farmer's market
-  Mtn View Farmers Market on Wed
- Sunday Streets in SF
-  Los Altos farmer's market on Sundays

We have a mandatory meeting coming up for the end of this quarter, before finals week.  We are still working out which day would be best and will post the date for this later.  Please check back for that.

At next week's meeting we will finalize sponsorship levels for local and bigger businesses to donate to our group in return for posting their company logos on our event posters and brigade T-shirts.

***PLEASE NOTE that I have fixed the online sign-up sheets and have made them editable rather than only viewable.  Sorry for not figuring this out earlier!***
