Current Brigaders

Hello Brigaders!

Big thanks to all of those that signed up for a committee! And an even bigger thanks to those who have already started collecting donations!

Here is a list of things each brigader should be doing.
  • Sign up on the Global Brigades website. Click here for a step-by-step guide on how to sign up
  • Passport
    • It will have to be valid through February 2019
    • We will be asking for a photocopy of your passport as we get closer to booking our flights
  • Vaccinations
    • Hepatitis A
    • Hepatitis B
      • This is given in 3 doses over a period of 6 months!
      • If you're in healthcare or went to school in the USA for most of your childhood, you more than likely already have the Hep A and Hep B vaccines
      • If you're interested in getting a titer (blood test to make sure the vaccination worked- aka to make sure you have the antibodies) please speak with your physician. This is not required for the brigade
    • Typhoid
    • We will need proof of your vaccinations!
  • Fundraise for your personal contribution (the ~$1990)!
    • Share what you will be doing with your friends, family, worship groups, sport teams, clubs!
  • Collect donations
    • We expect everyone to help in getting donations even if you are not signed up for a committee
    • The more donations we collect, the more money we will be able to allocate to provide financial aid to brigaders!
  • Meet the deadlines
    • The deadlines are listed here. Please reach out to us if you feel you won't be able to meet a deadline
  • Start practicing your Spanish!
    • There is a class that may be offered next quarter if enough people sign up. It's Spanish For Healthcare Workers! Share this info with your classmates! It would benefit those interested in the healthcare field even if they're not going on the brigade! Many patients here in the U.S. speak Spanish and struggle with English. A big part of healthcare is making our patients feel comfortable! While I was working in a family health center, being able to speak a patient's language really helped in reducing their anxiety!
As always, contact us if you have any questions! You have our email and phone numbers!
