Applying fluoride treatment during children's charla; Honduras 2013
Meeting minutes for 1.29.2014
Members present: Dr. S, Jamie, Benson, Adam Z.

Hello again, everyone!

First things first, please note that our weekly meetings have changed time and location!  We have gotten feedback that 1pm-2pm would work better for several people, and Dr. Schultheis has procured a new meeting room for us since our old one is now closed-off due to construction on campus.  In addition, Noah is able to host a second weekly meeting on Fridays to accommodate more members! Our new weekly meetings will be as follows:

Meetings with Jamie will be on Wednesdays 1pm-2pm in Room 5102.
Meetings with Noah will be on Fridays 12pm-1pm at the KCI Cafe in the Observatory Bldg (beginning next week 2/7/2014)
** Dr. Schultheis will be present during the Wednesday meetings

Our coffee and doughnut sale is now scheduled for Thursday, February 6 from 7:45am to noon. We have changed the beginning time to 7:45am in order to cater to students who have class at 8am.  The location will be in the main quad. We are organizing ourselves to have Krispy Kreme doughnuts for sale and bags of whole beans from Starbucks.  At this last meeting, a motion was approved to use club funds to purchase the minimum 25 dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts wholesale for a total of $112.50. Thank you so much to Merivic for contacting Starbucks about donating beans -- we are able to collect 2 bags of beans from each Starbucks location, so we are asking each member to inquire about bean donations from a Starbucks  (or 2!) near them.  Also, a big thank you to Jeff for providing us with the details of purchasing Krispy Kreme doughnuts at wholesale prices.  If you have information on procuring doughnuts and/or coffee and/or bagels for free, please contact us via Gmail and let us know. You can use this donation request template in emails or to take with you to store locations.
Pricing for our items are as follows:
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts:
- $9/dozen (at the store in Mountain View they are $10)
- $1/doughnut (at the store they are $0.85, but we figured $1 is easier to charge than pocket change)
* Prices for in-store purchases are based on a phone call Jamie has made to the Mountain View Krispy Kreme store

Starbucks Coffee:
- We did not conclude a price for this, as we do not yet have a confirmation of how many bags of beans we will have to sell.  After looking at a webpage of prices of Starbucks beans, I am thinking that $11/bag is a decent discounted price.  Please contact us if you have a different opinion.

*Brewed coffee would be a great item to sell if we can get it, but as of right now we have not confirmed any leads on that.

Distribute this event flyer to all friends, family, and classmates.  The items from this sale can be sold separately to friends and family as well!  With 25 dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts to sell, we anticipate having plenty to sell outside of this sale!  Bring a dozen to work, to the places where you volunteer, to a friend's house, for Sunday brunch...

To comply with tax regulations, we must move the flea market to May 3, 2014.  Our flea market will now be on May 3, 2014 from 6am-6pm.  We need the most help in the morning shift 6am-10am, and the evening shift 2pm-6pm.  If you cannot commit 4 hours, please let us know and specify which hours you can work.  Early morning and late in the day are the most critical times that we needs several hands. Contact us via email if you have items to donate to the sale.

Fortunately, we can still host a March fundraising event!  The March Sunday Streets in San Francisco will be held on the Embarcadero on Sunday, March 9, 2014.  We are thinking that we will host face painting at this event.  Also, we can hold a practice face-painting session at our Friday meeting just before the event, on March 7, noon-1pm at the KCI Cafe in the Observatory.  I will fill out the application and update the club if and when it is approved.  Please sign up to work the Sunday Streets event.  Times will be posted when our application is approved.

We have also discussed the possibility of offering sponsorship levels to businesses who would like to donate money to our chapter.  There will be more details on this once we have secured a pricing system.  Basically, business owners will have the opportunity to donate to our chapter's Bronze, Silver, and Gold sponsorship levels.  In return, they will receive a combination of recognition at our events, on our brigade T-shirts, and in commemorative "Thank You" letters and photos taken while on the brigade.

That's it for this week, brigaders!  Please direct any and all input to our Gmail account.  We hope to see you at one of our meetings next week!  Have a fantastic weekend.
